embarrassing ............

Do you smell of fish?

There is a genetic condition where this occurs because of a lack of certain enzymes that break down bacteria in sweat (or something). You could see your doctor about a referral if necessary. It has nothing to do with whether you eat fish or not.

A woman on another forum said that she got very fat and became diabetic on a vegan diet over many years but one side effect was an absence of body odour. She says that since starting a low carb/high meat diet she stinks but that her blood sugars/diabetes control is great.

It sounds a difficult problem and I hope you get a solution that works for both you and your workmates.

hi all again, in process of trying several suggestions. Thanks to you all.

Unfortunately now out of job - NOT because of this hasten to say - I have been in several positions since last Feb and a year later nothing else suitable so taken redundancy. This has quashed one of my anxieties, am going to take a longish break to see if I can get this whole thing sorted and get some counselling on the other stresses.

GP is going to do tests, dont know what, and seeing her again for depression. Been reading up a lot on the web re the subject - come to the conclusion that the more stressed out I am the more likely I am to 'smell' - bit of a vicious circle.

Sweeter smelling Sue ..........

Sue I was really shocked to read your story, and very sorry that you've taken redundancy, but equally delighted that you no longer have to associate with inept colleagues - or an HR dept - who clearly don't possess the wherewithal, humanity or sensitivity to cope with this issue. They're the ones who stink, not you! And by the way I'm a bloke, so some of us can care too! Wishing you all the best, Jo
