Empagliflozin Side Effects

Messages

Hi all, I'm after a bit of help.
I've recently been put on Empagliflozin (10mg once a day) and while my doctor did go through the possible side effects. To be blunt, I can't stop going to the loo to urinate. When I say that, I mean every 45 mins to an hour...
This concerns me greatly. What I'm wondering is, has any one else had this sort of reaction and if so, does it subside and calm down a bit?
An example of why I'm concerned, my commute to work is just over an hour on public transport. If this is how it's going to be, I'm not making it there!!!!
Any help or information is greatly appreciated...

Hi there.

The issue you are describing is actually how your medication works. It works by flushing glucose out of your blood, via your kidneys, in urine. Are you managing your diet to try to bring down your blood sugar levels? That would be likely to be helpful.
