Hey , I have had type 2 diabetes for a few years now just moved onto insulin with metformin tablets and my blood results for my Liver that there was a problem, I went for a scan and got a call of the doc saying my liver was enlarged and that I had fatty tissue on it as well, he said nothing can be done at the moment apart from cholesterol tablets and that I should eat less carbs, while the diabetes nurse said I must include carbs which is right? Help plz

The debate continues. Dr. Briffa says we could live without carbs. The NHS policy is carbs with every meal. I suppose a compromise is possible if you don't wish to join either camp.

You could have less carbs with every meal or some meals without carbs.

Personally I favour eating carbs with some meals but in lesser quantities.

I had/have/ not sure if I still have fatty liver disease, but I have found that my liver enzyme levels have reduced quite significantly since I started the lower carb diet, lost some weight and started exercising.
My levels are only now just above the norm. (I take meds which may cause liver damage, so get tested every month)

I was also diagnosed via a scan, and although of course the choice is yours, why not try reducing your carbs and see if that helps? I'm sure that reducing them, but not cutting them out altogether can't harm you, so it's certainly worth trying!

Hi guys, new to the forum but found debate interesting. I was diagnosed with type 2 over 18 months ago but I've been able to manage mine with diet & Aloe Vera. It seems to be working for me & has allowed me to stay off medication.
