Hey I wondered if you had any advice for me.

My son got diabetes in jan this year type 1 I was off benefits as I have been since 2012 but I had to give up work to care for him. I can't get Js as I'm not actively seeking work but can't get income support till his dla is awarded. Which there was a 3 month wait to apply. We both live off his tax credits 58.00 a week.

The job centre has refused to help me, telling me I am not the first person to have to wait and the rules will not be changed for myself. They also said I had to wait 3 months as he could get better of magically just wake up one day and be better even know I told ten it's a life long disease.

I can't get housing benefit or council tax support either.
Council tax want 1300 off me.

It's depressing me as nobody know what help I can get.

Thank u x

Have you talked to the CAB (citizens advice bureau) .. they are best to advise you on this subject

Hi. How old is your son? If he's of school age then schools are used to dealing with T1s and insulin. If he's not yet at school then it makes life more difficult.
