The wife has treated herself to a tub of epsomsalt ..that she will have in her bath tonight .. Is this safe for me to jump into after she has got out of ... Any T2's bath in this ....? Advice please ..I am only on my heart medication ...will look up to make sure it's not going to affect them myself ...
 
Short answer: I don't know, I can't find any reason not to and good luck if you enjoy trying something different (although I don't think this is a new idea). I use epsom salts on my tomatoes for magnesium deficiency and I think the same applies to humans in the bath. Are your leaves green and glossy or do they show signs of wilt with red veins? :)
 
:nailbiting:Yes the wife has used it in the garden, but she gets a different grade for her bath... I guess I should trust the wife and take the plunge ;)
 
The only use for Epsom salts I knew of was my father in-law when his sons were still living at home always put a teaspoon of it in their first cup of tea in the morning that was more than 50 years ago never did find out why and my husband said it was revolting. I have never heard of anyone bathing in it what is the advantage of that

It can be used to "ease constipation" so be careful of taking the salts.

My mum once told me that, during the War, they made fizzy drinks using Epsom Salts and some concentrated orange juice that they'd saved for a birthday party. Some of the kids drank too much, with "hilarious" consequences :eek:
 
O ... that explains why the packet said its a food standard grade of epsom salt !! The wife said I bath in it to get my magnesium levels up .. and it should stop her foot cramps as this will be due to low magnesium levels .. I just asked her about eating/drinking this and she said ... NO ,,, its not for drinking as I will not absorb the magnesium doing that, it will act as a purgative (she has cheeper ways of achieving that, so she says !!) .. it has to be got via the skin ... Well I learn something new every day :)
 
Epsom Salts (magnesium sulphate) is one of the main ingredients of the famous "Andrews Liver Salts" (still available) used for dyspepsia, hangover and constipation, and also the similar "Eno's", and has always been available in pharmacological grades (B.P.) for "medicinal" use. In less pure (and much cheaper) forms it has been used, as previous posters have mentioned, as a garden supplement and in bath salts. Harmless in small quantities, spectacular if you over do it!
 
I occasionally drink Andrews Liver Salts, if I'm not running right, as usual just need to check BS
