my husband and i have been together 22yrs, we have just turned 40, for the last few months, my hubby, who has had type 1 diabetes for the past 16yrs , has suddenly been having problems getting an erection, we have discussed it, but he now says, he is too worried to even try anymore because he knows it wont happen, so i dont want to push him , i have tried all the usual seduction routines, but im beginning to think its connected to his diabetes, he tells me he is not even gettin an erection on waking in the morning, and that has never happened since he was a small boy. any advice or help would be appreciated thankyou.x

I would go to his diabetes care team and yell at them. This problem is VERY common in long term T1 men, yet very few if any clinics ask patients about it routinely. If they would simply do that, then a lot of heartache and embarrassment could be avoided.
Your husband is still a young man and there is plenty that can be done to help, but he MUST ask for it.
Good luck to you both

Drag him to the docs if you have to,
but help is available freely and without judgement
this is not uncommon and from what you say its a diabetes related physical constriction that is causing the problem and its very treatable
from a mans point of view i see no embarrassment in getting help to make a person feel complete and fullfilled again !!!
and he has to remember that this affects 2 people, its obvious that you have the desire to be as intimate as ever and he has to think of your needs too!!!
good luck and tell him, once the first question is asked at the docs, the rest is easy !!!

Hi

the way i tacked this with my partner is by being very open and talking a bout it, not to bottle it up and wat i found is that sayin its ok and i understand was like a red rag to a bull!!! men measure their virility by their bits so its a delicate subject.

The GP was great, he was a little embarrassed but the GP explained that it was no different to having a sort throat or broken leg. He said that if his leg was broken then he would get it plastered, if throat was sore then he would get antibiotics the same with erectile problems u get a nice little pill to help get things going in the right direction!!!!

My other half even admitted that it wasn't as bad goin to the GP as he thought it would be. Its not changed our sex life much at all, its not cold and calculated as come on am feelin randy shall i take a pill it doens't work like that, the pill stays in his system for bout 24hrs workin normally plus a further 24hrs workin a bit weaker if u get the drift so he mainly takes it at the weekend wen were both not at work and spending time together and it need the sexual stimulation to work just like in real life u have to be in the mood so no embarrasing situations wen going out, if hes not in the mood nothing untoward happens in that department.

The pressure if off him and he doens't worry about not bein able to perform, as the tablet is sort of a psychological crutch as well.

So get ur hubby down to the docs asap, but he doens't get no joy there (he is lucky to have an ok gp) get referred to an urologist.

Hope this helps
