i have been type 2 for a number of years I take metformin twice a day.
In the past few months I have noticed I am becoming more and more tired and get very easily agitated and end up pacing up and down and can't settle.
My GP send me for blood tests and all ok so has put it down to sugar levels. They don't seem to fluctuate I think I don't eat enough carbs. I drink enough fluids mainly water and green tea
I also thought it was due to heat as it's very hot here 36 degrees.
Does anyone get like this, I don't sleep well but loathe to take sleeping pills.
My last HA1ac was 6.5

Do you regularly check your blood sugar levels and please where are you we want to come (from a cold and grey and wet UK).

I am in Perth WEstern Australia formally from Edinburgh I check my blood sugars mainly after meals and normally around 10
I am also gluten intolerant which means careful reading of labels. I will look at the link diet doctor.
I have excellent cholesterol or so my doctor says.

High blood sugars can, in some people, cause bad temper, irritability amongst other issues so it’s perhaps not totally surprising you are feeling this way

not eating enough carbs? Carbs will drive your blood levels higher so that’s not likely

temperature could also not help, I know I get snappier when I’m hot and couple with less sleep, well all of the above could add to it all

Other than a gluten intolerance, is there any food that also cause symptoms of an intolerance?
What are your fasting pre breakfast readings? I don't mean when you wake up.
Any other symptoms, that you have noticed other than sleep deprivation?
If you are gluten intolerant are you still eating grains?
Heat will raise your blood sugar levels, but not to the extent that you have described.
I no doubt you have been told to drink plenty of water, stay hydrated.

I envy you, I would prefer to be in nice sunshine and go and sit in the shade.
However, I'm stuck indoors cos we are shielding and the weather is freezing, windy, snow, rain and did I mention very damp and miserable.

Keep safe.
