Type of diabetes
Type 1
I've been recently diagnosed type 1 on Thursday and was discharged from hospital yesterday and have had erratic level of

Morning 14.6
Lunch 30.3
Dinner 5.7

Should I be concerned? I've tried to ring the diabetic nurse that advised me yesterday only to be told that they don't work weekend !

I'm I worrying over nothing????

Are your readings before or after food? What insulins are you taking and what doses did you take in relation to those readings?

You can ring NHS 111 if your worried its like 999 for non emergencies available 24/7.

It will take some time for you to get levels to settle down.

Readings are going to be erratic for a while until you get to grips with insulin management.

You don't really want to be seeing readings of 30, but if that comes down with insulin and you don't have ketones (do you have the ability to test for ketones?) then it's no acutely concerning. I would however be a bit careful with your lunch time dose f it brought you down from 30 to 5 with a normal meal.

To learn how to manage type 1 diabetes with insulin the book "think like a pancreas" is a good guide covering the basics that you need to know.
