Hi all, just after some words of advice please.

I have taken my morning bs, yesterday is was 7.8 (good for me!), this morning 8.3.

Yesterday I didn't have my usual slice of toast until a few hours after I woke, just had a cuppa tea (no sugar/sweetener). I started to feel very drwosy about an hour later so did my bs again, it was 8.8!
I haven't eaten yet today, have been busy doing stuff and hubby reminded me I haven't eaten. Thought I would do a BS which I did and it was 9.8!

What the heck is going on? How can it be higher nearly 6 hours after I got up when I haven't eaten anything?

I know testing is the way to go but I can't do it too often due to cost. Thing is when I get results like these that don't seem to make an iota of sense, it then makes me question my other readings and how reliable they actually are.

Opinions gratefully received. :)

Hi ladybird,

IMHO there is a part to management that you are forgetting. You must eat regularly and try and include all food groups in your meals.
I know it is easy to forget to eat if you have commitments but it really is a must.

Hope this helps.

Hiya Ladybird,

Did you wash your hands before you tested? Did you test again to see if it was still high or just a bum reading? No meter is perfect and they sometimes give results that are just plain wrong.

I was feeling really hungry before lunch today (usually a sign that my BG is significantly less than 6), but my BG said 7.7 mmol/l, which is high for me (especially before lunch). I washed my hands and tested again and it came back at 5.5 mmol/l, which is consistent with the way I felt.

I know you say the cost of strips is an issue, but wondering around all day trying to figure out why you are "high" when maybe you weren't can be pretty miserable. In my experience, if it feels wrong, then it usually is wrong.
