Hi... I'm new I've had type 1 for 3 years now and I have always browsed on the forum to look for advise but have only just signed up. Even though I know none of you personally I feel like there's some sort of connection/ bond between you all because you all have this in common. So I thought I would write because I have hit a wall at this point and felt like I needed some one I could talk to who would understand exactly what I mean, because family and friends can only try to understand how ever I don't have anyone to talk to who has actually got it to fully understand where I'm coming from.

hey @Brodie93
welcome to the forum :)
3 years after diagnosis can be a tough time -- the dread of having D is over but the everyday living with it kicks in big style.

can you let us know a bit more about your routine -- MDI ( multiple daily injections ) or pump
can you carb count, ?
do you test regularly ?

more info helps provide better responses

keep posting !!!!!
all the best !!

Hi Brodie93, like you I'm new to the forum, but at 25yrs type 1 it's my fear of computers that kept me away. I'm sure the advice you will get from the team on the forum will be of great use. Consultant's, GP's, diabetic specialists, family and friends all have our best interest's at heart but don't quite get it sometimes. Being diabetic is a challenge 24/7 and we have to adapt 24/7. Just because I was happy yesterday does not mean I'm happy today, it's not personal, and I can't really explain it, please don't ask me to because that just makes it worse. I'm sure you have these days. If you do I fully know what you're going through, I can't help you the same way can't help me. BUT it's great knowing that I'm not alone. I intend to keep on the forum and hope you do I'm sure we'll be better for it.

Hi @Brodie93

Welcome to the forum...if you've been lurking for a while now you will already know how valuable this forum can be in terms of information and support...so keep asking questions...no matter how silly.

Are you based anywhere near London? We have regular meetups in London...everyone is welcome...we have one coming up in July if we can interest you...it's a great way to meet new people and compare stories etc...link below.

These meetups are great fun and you always come away having learnt something new. We have had PWD for over 20 years come along and still learn something new. And if all else fails you might make some new friends to boot

Hi, I can't believe you've all nailed it straight away exactly how I feel, yeah I am over the dread of having diabetes but living with it has kicked in, I think because of the last 3 years have just been a whirl wind really because I started on injections my background was Lantus to start with which it turned out I was allergic to which I find really amusing :p then levemir then after about 1 1/2 years I went onto the combo pump so had to learn all that then when I've just got used to reloading that and smacking the hell out of it to get the bubbles out of the insulin I get the new insight pump which is great no more paddys changing the insulin the handset can be annoying but I like it :) it's now just the fact of my life living with it. I am lucky that my nurses like me and let me have a trial of the new free style libre, which btw is fantastic especially if your on injections my family and friends used to laugh because I'd say it was like being a self check out at Tescos haha :joyful: and as for the meets ups I would love to go to one if there was one nearer because I live up north.
Thank you guys for all your fab feed back its made me feel really good :):):)

Welcome.

I felt the same way. In fact I am not even in the same country as everyone here but physical constraints shouldn't limit friendships. I have always been a frequent 'forum user', they give me a sense of community over a shared interest. That's the point!

Whenever you feel like you need a diabuddy come browse the forum, we're all friends here, and we all understand this part of your life.
