So I've finally taken responsibility for my type 2 diabetes and I'm checking my sugars. Even eating less carbs my bs is still 9-13. I've been on the same meds for years, exen, glic, met and lantus. I spoke to the nurse today and asked what can be done. She said carry on checking my bs twice a day and they'll send me an app to see them in a few weeks with a view to rem glic (I'm on highest dose) and putting in a fast acting insulin. Anyone else done this please?

They want to discontinue the glic and add exenatide? It may not replace your Lantus, but taken with it. The nurse is also talking about adding a mealtime insulin.

No I'm on exen already. They want to take me off the glic and put in a FA insulin.

With medical advice from my doctor, Yes, I would agree to that and continue the exenatide with the Lantus and fast acting. I would take the advice to discontinue the glic. They want to continue with the metformin? I would.

I think a lower carb way of eating is the primary treatment for T2 and then meds as needed. Are you carrying much weight? A low carb diet may reduce the insulin you need and may help.
