Hi all - a first time post for me Having had a chat with my doc today, and due to the fact that my weight rose from 70kg to 105kg when I changed from Metformin to Insulin, she asked if I had heard of incretins. I have done a quick bit of research, spoken to the local pharmacist who told me that the name of the drug is Exenatide and now would like to hear from anyone that has used or tried this drug? I know very little about it so any help at all would be greatly appreciated.
I started Exenatide las Christmas and it has changed my life. I had put on loads of weight having been on Novorapid for just over a year. I couldn't tolerate Metformin at all and I was also taking Gliclazide 80mg twice a day and Glargine at night. I was told of the side effects of Exenatide but I was at such a low ebb I would've sold my soul to do something!! But after following a low carb plan I no longer have to take it, some days I don't even need the Gliclazide, but I do keep on with the Glargine.
The nausea with the Exenatide can be awful, but I found that if I ate pretty much immediately after injecting it wasn't too bad. So good luck, please give it a go.
