Have just ben put on Byetta,Exenetide 5mg,twice a day,
have reduced the Gliclazide to 2 per day.
Also on 4 metformin per day.
I was told one of the side effects would be loss of appetite,I am having the reverse effect, i am feeling hungry all the time and my blood sugars are high (above 10 )on all my tests either before or after eating and taking drugs.

Im very confused, any advise would be great, return to see the nurse in 3 weeks.

Hi, mahed63, I use victoza, so cant help you with byetta. We do have a byetta thread where you will find the answers to any questions with using byetta. There are lots of byetta users and someone will come along to help and support you. You will soon feel more confident and be okay when you revist your nurse in 3weeks time. Just type in byetta in the search tool at the top of the page, and it will take you there. Hope this helps you? Anna.x :)

I had the same problem as you with the same medications and same amounts. I found that it takes byetta a long time to kick in with suppressing your hunger. I tried to take my mind off hunger by keeping busy with other things or just had some Greek yogurt too fill me up a bit more, it's low fat and no sugar :) As for the rise in your BG, I have that problem too. I told my DN and she said to try it for another week and if it's still up, she'd increase the dosage of gliclazide again... I have to call her tomorrow to let her know my results... Call your DN and tell her yours and see what she says. :)
