Hey All

Just a quick one I play 11 aside football on Saturdays, pre kick off my bg is 5.1 by half time its 10.0. I will drink a lot of water at half time but by about 75/80 minutes into the match I will begin to cramp.

Does anyone else find this? If so do you have any advice on how to avoid cramp?

Thanks :)

Since you drink a lot of water dehydration doesn't seem to be the problem. So how about the minerals ... especially magnesium and potassium? A lack of those two can lead to cramps and i've read somewhere that diabetics can have a lack of magnesium.

Furthermore magnesium has slight benefits for people with type 1 and 2. I'll try to find the sources again.

Edit didn't find what i was looking for but examine.com gave some answers.

Note how some research was done on insulin, insulin sensitivity, Hba1c and muscle oxidation.

I used to get cramps a lot after running but added magnesium tablets to my diet and they stopped. Don't go overboard on magnesium tablets though, they can really upset your stomach (as I found out).
