How do most people find doing a lot of exercise with the Keto diet? I was following the diet pretty well and then upped my exercise. This led to a lot of difficulty in following the diet and a severe lack of energy.

Hi @Telboy80 - ah.

Our bodies are well equipped to get energy from a Keto diet - so I don't think it is Keto per se, personally.

You may need to eat more? Is what I would say - to cover the extra physical activity. When it comes to physical labour, or activity generally, it makes a lot of sense to me to see food as fuel. For me, it's important to fuel up before and after anything involving muscle, and labour. And, as I am in summertime - definitely hydration! Lots more water.

The body needs primarily carbs or cats to break down into glucose or ketones respectively for energy; fats are the one for a ketogenic lifestyle of course and I agree you may need to eat more and...

The body also needs co-factors (additional elements) to allow the energy producing reactions to flourish so have a check in at how much non-starchy veg, avocado, egg, fatty fish, offal and - as said - water you're consuming and perhaps look to increase them somewhat although it's difficult to know because I don't know your specific circumstances.

Sometimes it is the things we cut back that become a problem; we may not need carbs per se nutritionally but real food carbs come packed with nutrients that we are likely to need more of from other sources.
