I am a 77-year old male, diagnosed with Type2 diabetes in 1990. I have gone from diet control, through medication and finally on to insulin injections (Novomix 30). I also suffer from Psoriatic Arthritis for which I have been taking weekly injections of Methotrexate. Three years ago I developed leg ulcers on both ankles. This has necessitated the use of pressure bandaging from foot to knee on them both

I have mobility problems due to the fact that I have dropped the Methotrexate to enable the ulcers to heal. Given the benefits of exercise for diabetes and arthritis the only sensible exercise would be swimming. My question is, does anyone know of an impervious knee high sock to cover my pressure bandages? The ones I use for the bath/shower, inflate like balloons when getting into a pool, throwing one off their feet.
If there isn't anything currently on the market, is there a manufacturer out there to come up with a solution?

Have you considered looking on Ebay or Amazon? Maybe they will have what you need

Hi BaKeRK - I'm sorry I can't offer you anything helpful on your search for something to cover your bandages for swimming,

I just wanted to mention a member on here who was able to drop all her medication she was taking to deal with rheumatoid arthritis, including Methotrexate when she modified her diet.

I'm not trying you to persuade you to follow her lead, or to suggest you might be able to achieve similar things, but I feel it would be a bit remiss of me to point it out. @poshtotty created a thread where she talked about her experiences, which is where the following link leads: http://www.diabetes.co.uk/forum/threads/my-life-since-discovering-lchf.66929/

Just a final point; your profile suggests you have pre-diabetes which could cause confusion at some stage. You can change that via your account page, or if you can't manage that, and would like it changed, I can do it for you, if you just let me know.

Good luck with it all, and I hope your ulcers heal soon.

Many thanks for the suggestion. I have looked at many sites. The problem is that most of these do not sit close to the leg. I have a similar type for the bath/shower but in a swimming pool, the trapped air expands, so they are like a balloon, thus tipping the wearer upside down. Highly dangerous if no one is about, like on holiday. This is especially so, as I have to wear them on both legs. I still appreciate you reply.

Many thanks for your helpful leads. If you could amend my profile, that would be a great help. I was first diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes in 1990 so I'm definitely not pre-diabetic. I have been trying to stick with the low carb diet and have reduced the amount of Novomix 30 by about 35% and kept a stable BML for nigh on a year. I will check to poshtotty thread about reducing methotexate. The other reason why I was looking for a waterproof cover is that I need two and at prices between £25 and £50 each, it's a bit expensive to find out if they work for me.
