From a Newbie wife:

How much effect is exercise likely to have?
When will the effect show?
How long does it last?

A 6-hour cross-country ski trip - reasonably fast - seemed to produce lower readings that evening and next morning.
A 4-hour more gentle trip seemed to have no effect at all - at least, no effect on post-meal reading. It is possible that it might have shown up a little the next morning.

Yet I'm told that 15 minutes exercise can make a difference!

Does exercise possibly not have such a significant impact if you are already fit?

Has anyone any experience of the effects, please?

Everyone is different. However if you think about it physiologically - the fitter you are the less likely you are to exert yourself for basic exercise so your hubby may well not see as much of a dro. So as a lazy sod, a cross country ski would prob put me in a coma :lol:
However, a walk is not enough exercise for me so I need an inbetweenie type thing

In terms of the moderate exercise each day type arguments, it does help manage bg, but at the same times is prob more to do with Cardiovascular health and the impact exercise has on well being per se. Given 'our' higher risk of , well EVERYTHING, including cardiovascular probs, exercise is a win win situation ( my resolution was to take it up but with a 48 hour working week, tis hard!)

After another, harder, ski trip this week - but not much food - 6.6 before breakfast - he was 9.2 in the evening.

So I assume that's a 'dump'.

What's the best thing to do under these circumstances?
Test on return and wait until it goes down before eating?
Or just ignore it and go on as normal?

I understand it is the 'spikes' he should be avoiding, so what can he do about exercise-induced spikes?
