Hi. I walk between 1 to 4 hours a day 5 to 7 days a week. My GP suggested it years ago to help me lose weight. I'm T2 Diabetic. I have other health problems too. Is it still safe to continue walking so much. It is my job. I'm 64. I do get puffed out quickly these days also aches and pains are increasing (Leg muscles etc). I also have an ulcer, BP is a bit high and I get tired quickly also a dry mouth most of the time. Sugar levels vary up and down a lot. Cheers.

What is the usual pattern of your blood sugar readings? And what is your average daily way of eating? I was just wondering if uncontrolled blood sugars could be impacting your health.

@Steve64a if you are concerned by your breathing issues and aches, talking to your doctor.
Thry may be a symptom of something serious and unlikely to be related to diabetes.

Walking is an excellent way to exercise for a T2. But technically speaking, one cannot out-run (or out-walk) a bad diet. https://josekalsbeek.blogspot.com/2019/11/the-nutritional-thingy.html might help a bit, should you have high-ish blood sugars. I don't know where the ulcer is (Stomach? Feet?), but if it's one on your feet, do get it looked after before it gets out of hand. Are you on metformin by any chance? That might cause vitamin B12 deficiency and you'd feel that in your calves. So... Thing to do is, go back to the GP, get a proper MOT including HbA1c and B12, get that ulcer examined, maybe lungfunction too if they do that in practice, or get a referral. And start testing your blood sugars at home, so you know what is happening with your blood sugars before and after meals, and any time you feel winded or off somehow. Knowledge is power, and readings could help you improve your diabetes and over all health. I'm with the others though, don't put everything down to diabetes, something else could be going on that needs taking care of. Better to ask the GP for assiatance than rely entirely on a forum with people who can't do any actual tests, can't diagnose and can't prescribe. We can make suggestions, but if you need help, (other than advice and support), it's the GP you'll need to see.

Good luck!
Jo
