OK, so my experiment to ditch my metformin has been pretty much 1 week. (6 days) here are my figures and notes.

Sunday

6.5 after waking up, decided to not take metformin. Missed my 2 hour after breakfast as was out and just plain forgot.
5.2 before lunch, 6.1 after 2 hours, again still out and about had a McDonalds Grilled Chicken and Bacon Salad.
5.5 before dinner, 6.2 after 2 hours, had 1 biscuit.

Monday

5.8 after waking up, amazed but great, after breakfast drop of at school then to Gym, after breakfast/before gym 6.8.
6.6 straight after gym, 6.2 1 hour later. then had lunch.
Missed my 2 hour reading as lots of people visited and I forgot.
4.7 before dinner, great level, 5.1 after 2 hours.
4.4 went asleep, never been as low as this before bed.

Tuesday

5.5 after waking up, really great, 5,7 after 2 hours. Muscles starting to hurt from gym.
Missed my pre lunch. not sure why. 5.0 after 2 hours of eating lunch.
5.2 before dinner, 5.2 after 2 hours. Muscles really hurting now.
4.8 went asleep.

Wednesday

5.3 after waking up, getting really good fasting levels, 5.9 after breakfast. Serious muscle pain, cannot bend my arms :D
5.5 before lunch, 5.2 after 2 hours.
4.1 before dinner, 5.3 after 2 hours. OMG my muscles.
4.1 went to sleep, great levels but serious muscle pains.

Thursday

5.0 After waking up, missed 2 hours after. Muscles easing.
6.3 before lunch, 5.6 after 2 hours. I can move my arm :D
5.2 before dinner, 5.3 after 2 hours. So much nicer to be abe to move my arms again.
fell asleep before I took my bedtime reading.

Friday

5.7 after waking up, 6.5 after 2 hours. Muscle just ache, no more hurting. I thought my levels were rising a bit.
Off to Gym for a workout.
5.3 before lunch, 4.9 after 2 hours.
4.8 before dinner, 4.8 after 2 hours.
Not gone to bed yet :D

Conclusion

Dropping the metformin has not made any difference in my levels. Going to the gym and working out has help my levels go lower and maintained them for a few days (at least whilst my muscles ached) buring the acid and glocuse from my muscles works.

This morning my levels were climbing a little, after the gym my levels are all withing the 4's.

I will be going to the gym at least 2 times a week if not many more.

I had permission (agreement) from the nurse to stop Metformin for three months and I couldn't see any difference either. I reported this to her but she still supports the taking of Metformin and so does the GP but neither are too clear as to why.

As I said in another post it is as if taking the meds signifies conformity and makes me a good boy.

I am now (with agreement) experimenting with the glimepiride. This seems to be more of a problem but hopefully the rash will clear up soon.

I think that is the case in some people, they must get quotes and figures and this ticks a box maybe.

As I said in your other thread Bio, one metformin tablet (500mg) would not make any significant difference to your bg levels anyway so it is no surprise at all that your levels are the same.

I would hate for this thread to influence those who are on a higher dose to think that it is not making a difference.

Yes, I don't want it to sound like that, this works for me and I was only on 1, I have always mentioned in my previous posts that this is what works for me, not everyone is the same.

I was on an experiment and for me at least, my conclusion is to not continue to take the 1 Metformin.
