I done the xpert course last year it was ran by a diabetic nurse and dietician from my diabetes clinic. And everyone on the course had different stories and medication and as far as I am aware it helped every single person on the course. But is it a case of different areas interpreted the course differently. I mean from the hcp side of thingsAfter 10 years of reasonable Hba1c results, ranging from 6 to 6.5, I was asked by the practice nurse if I'd like to go on the Expert course. I was asked by an incredulous nurse (the course leader) "why on earth are you self-testing?" I explained that as I'm on Gliclazide I sometimes feel a bit hypo and I feel it's necessary. She gave me an amused look. The session about nutrition was illuminating. Apparently we type-2s should be eating 230g of carbs a day. Hmmm. I followed the official recommendations and guess what? Last Hba1c had jumped up to 8.2. Anyway, I am back to self-testing and limiting myself to 100g carbs a day, blood sugars are good, mostly under 5 pre-meals. Expert? I don't think so!
I think you were very brave to test the high-carb diet! After 10 years of reasonable Hba1c results, ranging from 6 to 6.5, I was asked by the practice nurse if I'd like to go on the Expert course. Easy - if they "see" that LCHF works, they have to admit that they have been advising us to eat poison for the last 20-30 years.I simply don't get how they can not see it doesent work
