I’m on 4 Metformin and 2 Gliclazide per day. GP has just added Canagliflozin. Anyone here on that med and have any experiences to share? Many thanks

I'm not on canagliflozin so I can't help you.
But if you use the search bar on the top right of your screen you can search for threads with canagliflozin in the title, which gives a lot of results.

Good luck, hope the new medication will help you!

I was on Dapagliflozin which is its big brother. There are many warningd out on this family of medications, and I advise you to read the patient leaflet thoroughly. I had to give it up because it made me very, very flatulent and constipated, and I was developing fissures on my anus as a result. This has the potential to be a very serious matter involving necrotising fasciliitis.

This med can also trigger DKA which can also be very serious. I advise you to ask your GP for weestix to test for ketones in the wee, and also research Euglycemic DKA since it is different from the normal acidosis associated with diabetes.

These serious effects are rare. but be aware of them when taking this med. The more common side effect is UTI which can occur, Uncomfortable, but not usually serious unless it gets back to the kidneys.

Keep well hydrated when taking this med. It makes you wee more.

They also advise that you do not follow a low carb diet. Personally, I found the diet to be more effective than the med.
