Did they run through your photo's with you after they taken them?
Our screening, they run through the photograph, and they can actually pull up last years as well, never had a problem, so don' know if they can book you straight into the consultant or not, but I would assume that if they saw something major then they send you of to the emergency eye clinic (doesn't need an appointment). Our hospital works on a system that after they've been done, they get check again by another qualified person, before you get your results back/confirmed, take about a week t get the letter..
They also pull random photo's from every clinic, and these are then checked at top level to ensure that everybody is picking up and problems for quality control!
What I do has well, is arrange for my normal opticians eye test for 6 months after my screening, as part of the standard eye test is checking out the back of the eyes for any potential problems brewing!
Diabetic eye screening was only brought in to catch those who didn't bother to ensure they had their yearly opticians eyes test..
