Hi there
I'm getting my eyes lasered tomorrow. 2 questions
Will it hurt?
Will I have to stop drivingI'd really appreciate some help. Many thanks.
 
Thanks Sarah. I'm a bit nervous about it and I've read so many different things about it.
 
You might get some slight discomfort but the drops they use to ease any are good, you shouldn't drive for a good few hours, I always left it to the next day. If this is your first laser I very much doubt you'd have to give up completely, i had type 1 38 yrs before I was told not to drive any more . Ive had so much laser treatment, for larger sessions I was given an injection into the eye again painless it's the thought that's more frightening good luck :-)
 
Thank you. Been Type2 for 12 years now. This is my first laser treatment. I think it's because I've never had it done before that's got me nervous. Thanks so much for the help.

It doesn't hurt but it might be slightly uncomfortable until your eyes adjust to the flashing of the laser, but you can ask them to stop should it get too uncomfortable and they will let you take a break.

You don't want to be driving after the surgery until your vision has returned to normal, it can take up to 24 hours but its best to wait as you don't want to have an accident and for your insurance to be invalid, but having laser surgery doesn't prevent you from driving unless your Ophthalmologist says you shouldn't drive or the DVLA say as much, but with one session of laser surgery this is unlikely to happen, I've had a few sessions in the past and currently hold a 3 year licence.

btw, just be sure to wear some dark glasses for when you come back outside, the daylight can be really uncomfortable to the eyes following laser surgery.
