Hi all

2 days in and trying to bring my sugars down from 'HI' (27+) and currently managing to get them around 14 on average. I do have a pain in my eyes and, although I doubt any real problems as I have only been diabetic for about 6 weeks (though just been diagnosed on Friday) - at least that's when the thirst came on.

I'm type 1 and taking both types of insulin in moderate doses.

Does high sugar bring on light aches in the eyes?

Thanks

I agree with Aginoth, it might pay to call your HCP. I'm not T1 but are you carb counting or taking insulin at set doses?

Can do.

You need to get to grips with managing your insulin dosage and blood glucose.

A DAFNE course would probably help.

Thanks all and sorry for late reply. My sight went downhill over the following days; my first trip to OCDEM in Oxford hospital followed and I was subsequently told it would fade and get back to normal. It was the changing levels of glucose in my blood stream (after starting insulin injections) that caused he blurriness.

Sure enough, my eyesight is pretty much restored. I am now controlling my BGLs to a varying degree of success (having only been diagnosed T1 for three weeks now) but pretty much between 7mmol/l and 13mmol/l and no hypos.

I guess the trick is getting it lower and also avoiding hypos.

Anyway, thanks for your advice
