I have for some time now been experiencing worsening blurriness of vision, I went for an eye test in may-pre diagnosis-and the outcome was that there was just the slightest change since last time not enough for a new prescription, however I did fail the periphial eye test, the one with all the dots, quite drastically and was asked to have it repeated.with supreme concentration on the second test they were much happier with the results and was sent on my way, now following on from t2 diagnosis in july this blurriness is still causing me concern along with dizziness when I move my eyes to look up down or to the side. I have my retinopathy screening on monday and really worried they will find some damage. Do you think im worrying needlessly?

The bluriness is from elevated blood glucose levels and your blood vessels in your eyes enlarging.
When your blood levels are controlled the bluriness will recede.
The retinopathy is a condition in most cases of long term uncontrolled diabetes.

Thanks for your reply nosher, hopefully the test results will be fine then.

Hmm gotta be honest here and say im disappointed in the offers of support/advice given to my post, other posts seem to get a lot of response, yes I am looking for a bit of hand holding lol as I guess most of us newbies are but hey ho, my test is in an hour then itll be too late to worry about it anyway.sorry guess im feeling a bit sorry for myself.

Good luck, and please let us know the outcome.

The dizziness when moving your eyes may well be a touch of vertigo.

sorry I didn't realise. it must have been a hard weekend. at least it is over now and you will have the results in a few days

Thanks guys just back they didnt use the dye said the pics were clear enough without, feeling better now its over and sorry for the whinge, just got to wait for the letter now.as for vertigo, possibility I guess went to drs with it just before diagnosis and was given antibiotics for labrynthitis. ?..they didnt help and I guess sfter the diabetes diagnosis I assumed it was connected, but mabe I need to go back to gp about it, it can actually knock me unsteady with the severity of it.

Well done on getting through the eye test without the dye! Fingers crossed for a good result.

I was diagnosed with vertigo very recently. I was getting light headed feelings on changing from kneeling down to standing up straight and also from looking up. I had assumed it was due to a sudden drop in blood pressure as my BP is on the low side of normal. The GP discounted that after a 12 hour monitor test. She looked in my ears, said they were swollen inside and she couldn't see the drums. I also had to stand up, eyes closed, arms straight out in front. Then she did the eye test thing, where you keep your head straight but turn your eyes to follow her finger in all directions. I wasn't dizzy, but she said my eyes were flickering slightly, and said I have vertigo. I had to use olive oil in my ears for a few days, and she recommended a Youtube video for vertigo exercises.

I may well mske a new appt to discuss the dizziness now the eye test is out of the way.thanks for your help
