Feel **** now

Good for you. you are a fighter.

I was asking why you had retinopathy, rather than diabetes.
Because like I said, you still deteriorate. It's the rate of deterioration that you have a large degree of control over.

@Sharon Anne When I had my eye screening done at the hospital in February, the technician took the pic then said I would receive the results in two weeks by letter. It was not her job to comment on the picture. I think you would feel a difference if you had a problem so please try not to worry. Easier said than done, I know. Be sure to let us know how it turns out

Back to the original post. I've had screening at my local hospital for several years now. The person who does the test is not 'competent' to analyse the pictures fully so the results are mailed later. I usually receive a letter within 2 days which for the NHS is super efficient. I've always found the staff very good and friendly; fortunately so far no deterioration in my retina.

You have seen an optician recently so any damage would have shown then. You might have some background retinopathy that is too small to be seen unless the person is specifically looking for this but the fact that an optician saw no damage a couple of weeks ago is very positive news.

I'll pass your opinion on to the consultant. The minute I got a positive on my eye test I was booked in to a consultant and told in no uncertain terms - let yourself slip and this will accelrate. Maintain the discipline.
Sorry to hear that.

I have lost three stone and still have a long way to go but I will get threre, my consultant says mine in his opinion is not down to my waight but inherited. Sorry if my question has caused any upset it really wasn't meant to.

I am hugely obese and my eyes are fine.

For now. But at least the saying eyes bigger than your belly don't apply in your case.

The consultant also told me to stop sparring (which I love) on the grounds that it could damage my retinas and make things more difficult. But I heeded and stopped.
