Hi, can anybody tell me the difference between diabetic eye screening and a slit lamp eye test please?
In Canada the basic diabetic screening eye exam does not include the slit lamp test. I believe it’s another level of testing . For instance, I have Fuchs Endothelial Corneal dystrophy so they use the slit lamp test to examine the deterioration of my corneas. I would imagine they would use it for cataracts , or other diseases such as Glaucoma etc I’m sure neuropathy would be in there too . I don’t know if that helps @Sarah69 .Hi, can anybody tell me the difference between diabetic eye screening and a slit lamp eye test please?
I go to the ophthalmology department at my local hospital for my split lamp test, it’s then looked at by the consultant whilst I’m there and if I need further test I have them that day, if not then I’m told I’ll get an appointment in 2 years timedo not confuse the two
a slit lamp is what most opicinans do routimely at an eye test
a screening is cery different it take a photo of your eye and is sent away to be checked most standard opticians dont do eye screening
I’m under specialist care for my Fuchs . My eye specialist surgeon conducts the slit lamp test for me.do not confuse the two
