I have been going to have my tests for a number of years and every year I get the result the photos are not clear so you will have to be seen by one of our doctors using a slit machine. The reason I have floaters and these interfere with the picturers

It's not unusual for the screening images to be unassessable if someone has harmless floaters which block the view of the retina. The patient would then be sent to a slit-lamp clinic where the examiner can 'look round' the floaters.

Normally, the floaters don't suddenly disappear so once it is established that they are present and interfering with the grading of the images, the patient then has their eyes examined with a slit-lamp every screening. This saves the patient the inconvenience of having to have 2 appointments every year and also saves money for the screening service. If you have 'photos not clear' every year, I would raise this with the screening service and ask them why you are not being kept in the slit-lamp pathway.

You have missed the point, I took my wife to a specialised diabetic eye checkup and found the inadequate shambles described at the top of this thread. My wife does see an optician, but the optician doesn't match the eye check standards that I routinely have, also arranged by the NHS. But why should you and I be content with the service we obtain whilst "the others" get shovelled into a second rate seemingly cut price checking scheme. Everyone should be properly checked and advised.
No you took your wife for a diabetic screening. Which is only for diabetic problems.
