Laser eye surgery can create a lot more problems and I wish patients were given lot more information to make their own informed decisions.
I 14 yrs ago decided after a LOT of thought had inter ocular lens replacements. Long sad story, I wish I’d NEVER EVER had them and all the laser treatments that were performed without the informed information.

Laser can cause dry eye syndrome, damage the melbomian glands and then you need eye drops forever.

I have dry eyes, blurry vision at times.
No guarantee I want go blind in my left eye and no guarantee the lenses can be replaced.

Do your own research to be informed AND research the professionals.

I have ended up with the original lens in the left calcifying up to the pupil and ‘glistens’ in the replaced right

Yes. Cataract surgery using lasers, replacement lenses. My lenses were replaced, then the capsular bag in which the lenses were put went opaque, which often happens. This was recommended by the Consultant as he thought just laser would not have a lasting effect on my sight for long enough.
Then the Consultant decided to do this to mine and apparently due to they were coating with calcium the manufacturers had advised against doing that, but he did. They laser a horseshoe shape in the capsular as was thought this tissue went opaque, but they knew at the time it was the lenses calcifying. Mine were YAG lasered and the new right lens had also been Lasiked.
My lenses are multifocal and these are the worst for problems, the consultant I’ve seen locally will not use them but the other week I found that a lady HAD had multifocal inserted sadly, NOT by the consultant I have.

Even cataract surgery in high street vendors have a risk of them not being carried out well, I am on couple of groups.
I now believe this is why cataract surgery on the NHS is done when it has to be.

This surgery is not regulated by government health departments and is considered ‘cosmetic’!

The topic regards laser surgery to resolve retinopathy which occurs at the back of the eye…

My eyesight issues were not caused by my diabetes, just probably inherited aging process, my experiences having had procedures are sadly on going.

If there is an interest and you think it could be a topic people would be interested in, maybe there could be reason for having a separate topic page, entirely up to moderators.

Many many people are having eye surgery in high street venues and many many having significant long standing issues.

I would be interested in a new thread re cataract surgery please. I am facing up to accepting that i need 2 procedures in one eye and would like to read the experiences of others.

Welcome to your own topic.

All I can tell you on this subject.
My mum had cataracts removed decades ago after what seemed years waiting for them to develop before the eye unit did anything? She kept telling me “it’s like looking through a net curtain.”
I think it affected her mental well being at one point. She silently struggled.

What I do know was after the experience of the procedure. It was a success..
Just needing reading glasses.

She’s still going strong in her mid 90s but does now have Alzheimer’s.
