Hi! I am 6 years diagnosed T1. Always been pretty poorly controlled Recently been seriously trying to up my game and gain control. Trying for a baby so trying to reduce my averages too. Doing so well so far, have brought my 30 day average down from 14mmol to about 8mmol. I have AN ISSUE though. When my sugars get to about 4.9 u have false hypos. I know they have to be dealt with. But they get very extreme. Today I had an ambulance out for me due to it seiously affecting me (cold and clammy, sweating, severe shaking, anger, dizziness and a sheer lack of ability to walk properly and almost passing out). I'm at my wits end as I then either need help or go into a hunger rage and then raise levels horribly. anyone else suffering please help!!!
Personally (and I know a lot of people will disagree with this) I feel awful below 5 and if there can rapidly drop into the 2's. It may be that once your body is used to running lower then you will feel better at lower levels, maybe try aiming for around 7 (that tends to be where I shoot for and feel well) to start off with. Stay at that for a few weeks and let your body "acclimatise" to this. You could then maybe try and tighten up a bit more if you wanted to.
Have you had any guidance on what levels to aim for to help with conception? Good luck
I wouldn't worry at all - your blood glucose has been running high for quite some time - it's not at all surprising that you feel hypo higher levels.
If you do feel hypo at <5, I would be inclined to treat anything <5 as a hypo for the time being (and set your targets accordingly). As your general levels go down, it is likely that the symptoms will reduce and you'll be able to reduce your targets and reduce the the number which you call "hypo".
Much better and safer to do this stuff gradually!
(And well done on the improved averages - that's pretty dramatic )
