Far Infrared Sauna and Type 1 diabetes - does this help with small blood vessels

Hi All,

I have recently purchased a Far Infrared Sauna (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Firzone-Portable-Infrared-sauna/dp/B002EVYNCE) in the hope that this will provide long term health benefits such as lower blood pressure and improved blood circulation, etc

I have been type 1 diabetic for 24 years (my control in not great) and have diabetic retinopathy as I have had my eyes lasered a few times (over a year ago).

I wanted to know if I am at risk of causing further damage to the small blood vessels in my eyes and kidneys by using far infrared rays as these penetrate the skin and cause blood vessels to expand (thus lowering blood pressure). I am worried that this will make my small blood vessels leak further causing more damage.

Is there anyone out that with sufficient knowledge that can help?

I have an appointment booked with my GP in 2 weeks time (the earliest I can get) but I have a very strong feeling that the GP will not know (as their answer for everything is paracetamol)

I'm pretty sure your doctor will know more about the small blood vessels in your eyes and kidneys than just to say "paracetamol".

They recommend diabetics check with their doctor before using one.

Know nothing about this treatment but if the device says to check first with a Dr then I'd leave well alone until you do, especially as you already have diabetic retinopathy.
