Fasting blood 6.6 today

Would that be because I didn’t exercise yesterday? I am on metformin 2000mg and Januvia 100mg , the latter I started 10 days ago. I’ve been seeing 6.1 and 5.9 lately so this is disappointing. I feel smashed and stressed with end of teaching term here in Australia, I just crawled into bed. I don’t sleep well because I wake up stressing about irate parents upset about grades . But I had little carbs yesterday. I can’t afford to lose weight either . Does exercise affect fbgl a lot? Normally I do 45 exercise minutes to an hour swimming, walking, resistance. I just really wanted Januvia to be the magic that takes my fbgl to 6.0. That’s my dream.

There are many things that can cause our blood sugars to be higher than normal.
You have listed a few: stress, less exercise than usual and lack of sleep.

That said, given the accuracy of finger prick meters, there is very little difference between 5.9 and 6.6. They could be the same "accurate" number.
It is not unusual to see different numbers on different days.
My advice would be to relax: find a way to unwind. It may be exercise, meditation, reading, ... Whatever works for you and helps you sleep.
And don't be so hard on yourself about a 0.5 mmol/l rise on one day.
