Hi all,

Nearly a month into it and I am getting morning readings as I wake up of between 7.5 and about 9.5...Do you think that after a month these are ok, I know that they are not as low as they should be but I have noticed that they are coming down compared to what they were in the first two weeks of 10's and 11's..I am still learning in regards to the 2hours after meals as to what foods I can and cannot have.

There must be an improvement in my mental self as I find that it is not in my thoughts 24/7. I will get there, I hope.

Love to you all, I am off to play some indoor ladies soccer.

Warm regards

Sandra

It's the dreaded dawn phenomenen which does seem to take a fair old while to sort itself out. You're doing well though. Your levels are coming down. Mine took probably a couple of months to come down.

I'm reading the post here today, and wonder why there is all the anxiety about morning BG levels when they are between 5 and 7. When I was diagnosed with Type 2 I was told to endeavour to keep the BG between 4 and 7, and although I haven' t always managed it, my consultant and my diabetic nurse pay no attention to it being a little over say, once a week. I started 9 years ago on tablets, and now inject levemir and Bydureon, a new drug. I have no other medical problems. I am a fit 79 year old, although obviously insulin resistant.

the medics don't seem to be interested in diabetics achieving NORMAL blood glucose. In many cases, I'm sure they don't know what that is, after all 4 - 7 is a huge range. there's a 75% difference
To me NORMAL non-diabetic numbers are the only acceptable TARGET. That means around 5, preferably just below.
I know many doctors don't know the normal numbers. Very few of the newly trained ones I spoke to at the BMA last year, realised how low the normal number is.

I appreciate your comments, Hana. I do not consult my GP for my Diabetes (T/2) but have been under the Consultant at the Hospital, and he is the Head of the Diabetes Unit at a very large hospital. My BS levels tend to be high if I don't look after myself, but my early morning BS levels have never been an issue if they's been a bit high. Maybe it's because my other organs are functioning OK!
