Fasting blood sugar, Basal rate test

I'm on my 2nd pump and to find my Basel rate I need to do fasting blood sugars. Some people are saying don't eat for 8 hours before the testing but others are say eat at around 6, test my sugars at 8 and correct if needed. Then start the testing at 10 and test every 2 hours till 4.

Which is the correct way. I'm doing the testing tonight.

You start the test 4-5 hours after your last meal which should be low-fat, this is the time that your bolus dose will be all but used up, the following explains how to do basal testing on a pump:
