I am trying hard to acheive 'Euglycaemia' (love that word!) and my fasting blood sugar is coming in at the high 6's.

Would you be happy with this or aim lower?

I'm on lantus 8u am 8 u pm but loathe to increase unless I have to as I'm trying to lose weight also.

Thanks

That sounds spot on to me. I'd be happy with anything between 4 and 7.5. I'd recommend you do a few days where you test before food and two hours afterwards just to make sure your sugar levels are staying within range. Sounds like you're doing really well, though. Well done :)

I am trying to keep to a NORMAL blood Glucose and usually have a fasting reading about 4.5. I try not to go over 6 at any part of the day, even if I sometimes fail. I'm really trying for that HbA1c in the 4s.

Depends anticarb. I see you are an insulin user and Type 1.5. If you were a bog standard Type 2 on minimal meds like me I would be telling you to aim for low 4's. I'm told by my T1 son that for an insulin user that it's a lot harder to achieve although he does great and over a period of years has mostly managed it. You need to get pretty good and disciplined and test very regularly to get that really tight 4 - 5.5 level of control as a Type 1 or insulin user. It would also depend on what insulin regime you are on. Not an expert so just an opinion.

I'm an insulin dependent MODY xyzzy, but produce very little of my own insulin and am not insulin resistant, so functionally I guess I'm like a type 1.
The morning reading is the easiest to manipulate in one sense, as i can just bang in more lantus before I go to bed and not have to worry about food/novorapid affecting the reading.
I tested my non diabetic partner's fasting blood sugar this morning and it was 5.7, so sounds like you are doing better than him Hana!

Serious question. Can a T2 get to low 4's? As you know I am VLC and have never once had a figure in the 4's. I can get low 5's but that's about it.

My lowest reading so far has been 4.3. Most days I get a 4 point something.

How the heck do you manage that? I am VLC and my lowest is low 5's? I have to say I am very genuinely impressed, and can't wait to have figures like yours. Well done!!

I am obviously a genius

I am very careful, but then again so are you. I am dipping lower and lower on carbs. Often under 20gs a day now. I really need to lose some serious weight, and I believe that`s the way forwards. I have now stopped all bread, and I don`t really miss it to be honest.

I am waiting to have a heart scan as my heart showed as slightly enlarged on a recent chest xray, so exercise is out right now, so it certainly isn`t being energetic that is making it lower. I wonder if my diabetes has been caught very early? 6 months before a routine urine test showed nothing to be worried about.

My fasting levels always seem to be high. The lowest i got so far is 10.8 and thats from about 6-7 tea time till about 9.30 the next morning and the evening meal was low carb????

Up to this week my lowest was a one off of 4.9.
This week I had a 4.4.
All done on diet and exercise so no meds involved.
I am still not sure how I managed this because my other readings over the last 3 days have been 5s 6s and 7s with brief excursions into 8s and 9s.
Pick a number, any number...
