Fasting blood sugars - non diabetic

Type of diabetes
Don't have diabetes
Hi all,

I've always had a fascination with blood sugars and, as my father is a type 2 diabetic, have always wanted to ensure this was okay. As well as this, I have always had health anxiety around these type of issues.

I typically test twice a month or so, and my fasting sugars are always between 4.3-5.0. However I have had a cold of late and been overly stressed with work. When I tested the other morning my first test was 5.8. I didn't believe the test so I immediately tested 3 times and got: 5.6, 4.9, 5.3.

Would this be pushed up by stress and illness? I'm 23 years old and gym/run 5-6 times a week and have a healthy diet.

Cheers,
Ryan

Hi there and welcome. I think you've answered your own question, infection and stress can, indeed, raise blood glucose levels in non diabetics and diabetics alike. Your numbers are still good though.
