what to expect next, well when I was diagnosed I got a phone call and told they were putting me on metfomin pills 3x a day and would take another blood test 6 weeks later......come pick up the prescription and make a appointment to see the nurse!
Then that week I saw the nurse from the GP surgery, and she did strange things to my feet with a small vibrating thing and a sharp proddy stick!!! (diabetes may lead to poor circulation and reduced feeling in the feet, so im guessing that not the last time they will do that to me!)
I then got given a blood-glucose monitor so I could keep track of my levels, and a bunch of leaflets about what to eat (this is a huge topic of controversy, as the NHS recommend eating potatoes, bread, rice, pasta.....where as most diabetics will avoid carbs like the plague due to what they do to your blood glucose)
Iv only been dealing with this a couple of months, and was terrified at first.....but now my numbers are coming down, I eat less crabs and more veg, and am starting to get my head around things.
down panic, and ask lots of questions!
