Fasting glucose level query.

Hi,
For someone with a relatively high fasting glucose level, is it better to have something low carb in the morning, maybe egg based, rather than extending my fast, (currently until around 2.00pm) thereby spending a protracted length of time with a higher glucose level?
I can’t quite decide if that reads correctly, so if it makes no sense. My apologies.
I am trying to reduce my fasting glucose, but I seem to be particularly susceptible to the dawn phenomenon!
I had managed to get my HBA1c down from 118 to 43. It has now crept up to 49, so I’m trying hard to reduce it again.
Cheers
Nick.

Have you simply tried doing a couple of days extending your fast and a couple of days with a low carb breakfast to compare results?
I think that would be the easiest way to find out what works best for you.

Over the years, I've seen people reporting that eating a little something for breakfast helps, and I've seen people reporting that they do better on extending their fast.

No simple answer. If I don't eat anything my liver will go on adding more and more glucose. These days it never goes anywhere near unacceptably high. However sometimes my liver thinks coffee with cream is enough food, and sometimes it doesn't.

I've found that a few (three or four) almonds or hazelnuts seems to work, though.
