Hi everyone,
I've been a type2 diabetic for two years now, I've been following a HFLC diet which has reduced my weight from 14.7 stone to 12.4 and feeling fine, except recently due probably to the bad weather had the overwhelming urge to eat chocolate so I would purchase a Snickers double pack and consume both bars immmediately! The strange thing is an hour later my blood sugars had actually dropped significantly from the usual 6.5 to 5.4? Also, today waking up with a reading of 5.4, I decided not to have breakfast which I normally skip, and cycle to my Pilates class 6 miles away, returning home my blood sugars were 7.4 ??
Can anyone explain the reason please, sorry to chunter on.

Can't explain the Snickers, but the rise between getting up and your later test could be a combination of dawn phenomenon - http://www.diabetes.co.uk/blood-glucose/dawn-phenomenon.html - and possibly a short term rise caused by exercise. Some people find that exercise causes an initial rise in blood sugar levels, but they usually come down pretty quickly.

I have recently started skipping breakfast and my levels mirror the pattern I was in when eating breakfast - dawn phenomenon causes them to go up, but when I test at the time equivalent to 2 hours after breakfast, they're on the way back down.

Can't explain the snicker thing, but exercise might explain the rise in blood glucose levels after your bike ride and Pilates.
Some of us will get liver dumps from our livers because of the exertion.
If your body requires glucose during the day, your liver will provide.
