i am new to this i live in spain and have had type2 since january . am on metfornin i have been told that every time i go for a blood check i have to fast is this right also can you explain hb1as they do not explain anything to you only diet and exercise and not to many salads as it raises your bp which has increased slightly over the last 2 weeks.thanks in advance

Fasting gives a good indication of your bg control and because of this it is seen as a controlled test.
Hba1c show your glucose level for the last 8 to 12 weeks.

The reason this is done is because it is far more reliable than the standard fasting test which can vary day to day with the Hba1c because blood cells are renewed every 8 to 12 weeks (the glucose sticks to them) and thereby give a much more long term accurate reading
