Hello i wonder whether anybody could advise me on what im supposed to do. I have a fasting blood test in the morning its for my annual bloodwork - HbA1C etc. The letter has asked me to fast for 12 hours beforehand. Should i still take my Levemir insulin the night before? What do i do if my blood sugar reading tests low at any time? Many Thanks - Julie
 
Still take levemir, if blood glucose drops, have some juice or dextrose, it will not affect the hba1c. Presumably you have to fast for other blood tests, the hba1c does not require fasting. So a little bit of glucose will not affect it, as it is looking at glucose levels in blood over last 10-12 weeks.
