How much fat would be too much fat? I've started the Low carb programme again as if I am a beginner to all this and my food diary is alarming fat wise 315g yesterday!:bag:

I would say it needs to be proportional.
Easiest to think of it as a seesaw.
Fat on one side, carbs on the other.
The less carb you eat, the more fat you can get away with...

High fat and high carb is very bad for you (worst of both worlds).

So the real question is ‘how much carbohydrate are you eating?’ :D

315g of fat seems a lot. How are you measuring it? What exactly did you eat?

I agree it needs to be proportional to the amount of carbs. The fewer carbs the more fat is needed, but too many carbs with too much fat is never a good idea.

On Tuesday 31g of carbs 145 g fat 57g of protein

Yesterday 91g carbs 260g fat 100g protein

Bad maths! 260g that's still way too high though.

Out of interest what have you been eating.

300g is massive.

Most go with some substitution. Cream instead of milk. Just avoiding low fat etc.

Tonight I made meat and pasta.

60g fat in the beef, 1lb of fresh mince. 32g carbs from the pasta {4 ways} Lots of green veg, sugar smaps, spinach, mushrooms. Ansome

You have probably eaten more fat than my entire household today.

can you say what that 260g of fat is made up of? unless you are eating a whole block of butter a day, i think maybe something is off in your calculation.
Half a pot (about 100g) of clotted cream and a 200g bag of salted cashews. There's a food diary calculator (like Myfitnesspal) on the low carb programme I just typed my foods in there. I'd like it to be wrong but I fear not!

PS with 3 meals added to these "snacks" too

Eating that amount of fat I would need to be under 20g carbs a day, or I would be expending like a Hot air balloon - an increasingly heavy one :(

and how many carbs a day are you eating? and how many calories a day, do you think you are eating?

I know, that's why I am reaching out for some help/advice

Am not gaining weight bizarrely but I do not feel well. Last year was a tough one and it's time to start taking care of myself :)

do you need to gain weight or maintain weight? Are you getting hungry? I have to count both carbs and calories to keep from gaining weight.
I am not overweight anymore ( I should be!) but my eating is chaotic. I am glad I started the low carb programme (again) it's back to basics and a slow method of getting yourself to grips. I can pass the healthy eating theory test with A+ it's the practical that I fail :(

@VioletViolet you can do this! Between us we could probably write a book on passing healthy eating theory exams and flunking the “studio” adjudication.
I am just starting out with LCHF and have a boatload of learning to do- and then learn how it should work in my own personal body! All this under the shadow of one HbA1c of 6.5/48, which in US means, if I ever see that 6.5 again I am branded diabetic. Next test after Valentine’s Day... I’m down since August to estimated 5.74/39, but don’t think I can get it below 5.7 which in US is branded pre-D. It runs in the family.....
Total non sequitur: violets are my mostest favoritest flower ever, for my whole life!

200g of cashews is about 90g of fat.

Edited to remove the rest of my post which was rubbish.

Yup that's about the size of it! Thank goodness I wasn't tracking my diet when on chocolate too, it would have been horrifying.
