Pulled my first 6 carrots yesteday....left them on top of a full compost bag whilst cutting off the mangetout, looked around and my dogs had helped themselves to the carrots!!!!

Pulled another 6 and the mangetout, carrots were the best I have had this year (far better and nicer than the shop ones)....and a lovely bowl of strawberries...managed to get 4 bowls yesterday....2 for us and 2 for elderly neighbours....

We have banned gravy at the moment-although we both love it, as the taste of the veg is so superb we don't want to forgo the veg taste......

Hope everybody had a great fathers day....

Dogs that like carrots...........well there's a first!

I agree about gravy spoiling the taste of the food and only pour it over sparingly, would love to grow my own veg and must get round to doing this one day soon.

Our strawberries are still green, haven't picked one yet. The fig fruits have stopped growing and are drying out, even the tomato plants are only about 8-10 inches high. We do feed and water them regularly (that is the wife is not me, no green fingers here.) but still a disaster this year.

What gets me most is the grass in our garden, one side of the garden is a nice green and grows normally while the other side plus a few patches here and there are yellowish and don't grow as much as the rest. :?

Dinner was nice yesterday though, meat balls, salat and potatos, no gravy this time, didn't want to spoil the taste of the meatballs. There's just enough left over so I'll tuck into that today. :D
