Not read the book Angela's Ashes but have seen the film with the great Robert Carlyle, such a powerful story! :(

Nigel

There's a book?

The film is very sad :(

Hi, i have gone through 2 books of frank mccourts "angelas ashes" went to see the film and found it weary nothing like the book at all... large sections were not in the film n some of the best sections too [ well, for me anyways ] do yourself a favour buy the book curl up in your fave chair with a brew and you will be gripped by it its written as it happened and with so much humour too! Yes times were hard for his parents and upbringing but hilarious angles to it like when all walls were gone in upstairs [in italy] used as firewood by his mother! n the rent man came for his money baffled as to where all the walls had gone too??? Also grandma give frankie a clip round his ear for throwing god up in her back yard! after his first communion... its the one book I can read over n over again , just like watching the english patient it gets me every time I watch it. The film The Da Vinci Code was disappointing Patch, Dan Brown is a great author and I enjoy reading his books.

I hadn't read a book for years before I read The Da Vinci Code. I got it for Christmas one year, and had finished it by 29th Dec! I seriously couldn't put it down. I'd stay awake reading it 'til 4am!!! (**** cliff hangers and short chapters! :x )

After that, I read all of his books. I really liked Angels & demons, and bought the hardback illustrated edition.

As a result I am now completely obsessed with ambigrams!

Hard to narrow so many brilliant films down but thought top 6 in no particular order:

Die Hard
Devils Advocate
Groundhog Day
Total Recall
Stand By Me
Running on Empty

Could probably list another dozen or so but I'd say the above I could watch over and over again.

My top 5 films are...

1. Phonebooth!! (I love it :P )
2. The curious case of Benjamin button :D
3. Stranger than fiction
4. The Holiday
5. The corpse bride

They are amazing films! :D

my fave films would have to be:

Predator (not the new one)
Devil wears Prada
How to train your dragon
Beverley Hills cop
Howls moving castle

man its so hard to narrow it down :D
