Im not sure if this is a common side affect but when my bms rise a little say around 10-13mmol i get really tired. i feel drowsy, sleepy and my head gets really heavy. does any one else get this? it basically stops me in my tracks and makes me feel kind of inhuman. im only 25 shouldnt be feeling this tired most days!

Err, yeah bg readings of 10 -13 are over double what is normal for your body, so you're bound to feel pretty rubbish. Tiredness and general lethargy are quite common in this situation, but will vary in degree from one person to another. The only thing to do is not let them get that high, and try to keep them below 7 as much as you can. If you're used to having bg in the 10-13 range, reduce slowly otherwise you may feel hypo even though you're not, this is just because your body has become accustomed to the previously high levels. If you still feel tired after getting your levels back to normal, go see your GP.

I get really tired and sleepy mid afternoon. Usually 1-2 hours after eating  Not sure yet what my BG levels are after eating. Will start checking them when I get more BG testing strips.

Try to keep your blood sugars at a lower level as I'm sure this will help you to feel better. Are you sure it's your higher blood sugars making you feel this way and not something else? Hypothyroidism is something diabetics are more prone to and a symptom can be fatigue. You should be screened annually for this as part of your diabetes annual review.

Hiya, I'm in the same boat. I'm 25 also, it's definately frustrating but I know for a fact that it's got to do with bg levels. I feel tired when my sugars aren't steady so when I'm swinging so when my sugars are high and low in the space of a day. Or just high or low. Just reign in the sugars a bit and I'm sure you'll feel better. Goodluck :-)

Pinkalish and Bazippy,
If your having such probs with control, ups and downs, and feeling lousy; have either of you thought about changing your insulin?
