Type of diabetes
Treatment type
Non-insulin injectable medication (incretin mimetics)
I was diagnosed about 6 years ago (give or take) and have been on loads of different meds but nothing has brought my blood sugar down / kept it down for long. i'm on victoza injection and metfomin, gliclazide. i hada blood test recently and my h1bca was 11 up from 9. Since then i have been testing my blood and keep getting very high results 17.5mml a few mins ago, its been about 4 hours since i last ate. my head keeps ringing and i feel woozy, but it cant be a hypo as my BS is too high :(

any non-medical ways of getting my blood sugar to go down!

thanks

To reduce blood sugars without additional medication:
- exercise more, particularly low intensity training such as walking for an hour each day at a reasonably brisk pace
- reduce the carbohydrates in your diet. Test before and two hours after meals and keep adjusting carb content of meals until the after glucose level is within 2 mmol of the before
- substitute higher Glycemic Index carbs for lower.
- Drink more water
- Reduce any excess weight.

Best of luck

Hi,

You could try lowering your carb intake, and also having smaller portions and eating more often. this should even out the spikes.
