every morning and now it wakes me at 4 in the morning I have the runs badly ive seen my gp had a scan that was fine had medication buts its still going on .im going back to my gp this week it all started back in the summer when I found out I had type 2 I had a glucouse level of 69 and was taken from the gps to hospital by ambulance where I was on the hdu for a week its getting me down

what I would do is change my diet and take a probiotic and feed them on potato starch powder ..
I too had a lose stool and changed my diet and took a range of probiotics. both had a good effect for me, it was a week and my gut was showing improvement and I guess a month to get back to normal.
T2 have abnormal gut bugs to normal pop. ..
I think T2 have an intolerance to carbs.

it’s a long page and a few good video’s

Seen your taking Metformin, diarrhea and a upset stomach are sometimes reported as a side-effect of taking this drug.

hi thank you for replys ,I don't take metformin anymore just insulin .im going to look at the thread you put on jack 412 thanks again

Dunno Susie what's going on might be your diet, something might not be agreeing with you. Metformin made me very ill and am now on insulin too. Keeps informed.

Have you considered trying probiotics, they might improve the good bacteria in your gut?

hi yes im going to try probiotics can you sugest any good ones please

Hi susie, these are all good probiotics, : Gouda cheese
:miso soup, made with fermented soybean paste
:sauerkraut, must be unpasteurised.
:yogurt , must say live and active.
:kefir, a yogurt type drink
: buttermilk
:tempeh, a fermented soybean Indonesian patty.

You can buy probiotic capsuals from health food shops, the higher the number the better.

Metformin was / is my nemesis.
Worked up to 2 x2 tablets very slowly but after about three weeks on full dosage I have had to reverse to 3 daily and then back to 2 daily.
The nurse doesn't seem too worried by this as my glucose levels have gone from 31 to somewhere between 8.5 and 12 on average.
However, as you can see, these are still far too high and I am planning to ask to try slow release metformin at my three month check up next week.
Hope the advice from others has helped.

I'm wheat intolerant (terrible runs if I eat it). Had coeliac tests and a barium meal but they tested negative. My solution is not to eat wheat.

Yes, its such an individual thing, isn't it?
At least you know what it is for you and what to avoid.
I'm still a learner!

Have you been tested for an allegy, intolerence or for Coeliac disease ? Type 1 and Coleiac are associated, but also some type 2's ( and non diabetics) can get Coeliac too.

Best wishes RRB

I take Healthspan Super 20 Pro 1 a day. It works really well for me and makes things normal. Maybe build up slowly to this amount as they do a lower strength, sometimes the probiotic takes a bit to get used to and can upset your system initially. Avoid any with prebiotics though as these made me worse. Also fruchtotryglicerides aggravated my symptoms

I've talked about my trouble with Metformin before; built up to 2 x 2 daily but couldn't tolerate it at all.
Went down to 2 in the morning and one in the evening, with little improvement.
Spoke to the pharmacist who agreed it would be ok for me to take one tablet three times a day.
So far this has worked REALLY well for me.
Tummy not perfect, but very much better and looks as if this may be a solution for me.
Just thought I'd share it!

yes I couldn't get on with metformin it made me sick so was told to stop taking it ,every thing is going well im on insulin twice a day sometimes my sugar is a bit high or a bit low but not to bad its just my stomach ive started taking actemil see how that goes see if that helps I will let you know

I'm not sure how much probiotics help in diarrhea caused by other medications but I've read that Saccharomyces boulardii can help in antibiotic-induced diarrhea.

hi boron ive seen a specialist she thinks my problem is to do with my diabities but she wants me to go into hospital for a colospy sorry if I spelt it wrong
