Just back from my 6 monthly check at hospital and this was probably my worst visit in many years.

I am a 56 year old male been diabetic T1 for over 35 years.

Over the past year or so I have really kept my diabetes in reasonably good check, I have always been around 95 kg, well for past 10 years or so, but have cut back. Now only eating around 1500 calories per day, around 180/200 grammes of carbs. Virtually dont drink now maybe 2 small bottles of beer a week. I have dropped from a 38 waist to a 34 waist. But I have noticed over past few months I starting to get a bit of a "beer belly"

My weight today was up to 102 kg and my blood pressure was also up a good bit from what it normally is, guessing the weight gain will not be helping this.

All this effort over last year and it gives results like this. Feel like saying **** this and giving up but know that I cant.

Any advice from you wonderful people on how to lose the weight or is this simply an age thing/diabetic thing

Hello @smc4761 - don't a give up !! My tip in regards to losing weight is just to get more active take up swimming etc, something you will enjoy doing regularly, changing diet is hard but exercising isn't, just watch your bg levels and take it easy to start with.

I know I should exercise more and in my younger days was very fit. About 18 months ago I went to my works gym and went on treadmill. Just walking not over strenuous. After about 25 mins came off and was very light headed for about 10 minutes. Did this again few days later and same again. Told diabetic consultant who within 2 days had me connected to a 24 hour heart monitor and sent me for all sorts of tests. Came back i had mild angina

To be honest this really put me off. I do still go walking outside once or twice per week but although this may be for 3 or 4 miles, it is a gentle pace as I am mainly birdwatching taking photos
