You can often feel lethargic and sluggish with high blood glucose levels. There may also be thyroid elements in the mix as well, but obviously until the results have been discussed - you won't know...

You may also wish to check your BG after meals to see how your BG is reacting to the carbs. Fasting BG is a tiny proportional of out overall BG profile. When you test after meals, you can start to adjust portion sizes and/or avoid foods which give you the highest numbers. Once your overall control tightens, lethargy is more than likely to subside:)

Ideally, you'd like to test between 90 mins and 2 hours after starting your meal. If you want to see just how high the food makes your BG spike, you could try testing at the 1 hr mark instead. It's up to yourself, but you can read some more on what your BG should be here:

Thank you I feel so rough at moment just want to feel normal again. I think I keep having false hypos as I feel shaky, sick and can't get rid of this sweet taste out of my mouth. It's really depressing me that my doctors won't listen to me when I tell them all this. They say my hba1c is just in diabetic range but why am I feeling so groggy.

There's nothing worse. Are you taking oral medication as well? False hypos (providing that's what they are) will eventually disappear once your body re-familiarises itself with living with blood glucose at a lower value. It's something which I experienced too following my diagnosis.

Not to jump the gun, but considering your doctor wishes to discuss your results - it's entirely possible that they have found something regarding your thyroid function. Certainly at my clinic, no news is good news. As in, if I don't hear anything back - we can assume that everything is sound.

The good news is that if there is something wrong, and the doctors have found it, then they can get you on medication to help with it. The sooner the condition is treated, the sooner the symptoms will subside and you'll be back to normal:)

Not on any medication yet I was on insulin when I was pregnant and had gestational diabetes 3 times as couldn't tolerate metaformin.

Hi. I assume you are keeping the carbs down? Note that Metformin SR (Slow Release) is much better if you have bowel problems with the plain version. With blood sugar at the levels you suggest, it shouldn't be the diabetes that is causing your sleepiness.
