Sorry guys this is a moan/rant/life is not ******* fair.

So many of you know ive been diabetic 23 odd years and ive done dafne recently with an aim to a pump.

Monday I had a trial CGM fitted. OMFG is this how non diabetics feel? is this not worrying about bloods or not waking up at the right time?

so today it was taken away. I cried - still am trying not to. for something so life changing why cant the NHS sort its act out? or why are they so **** expensive?

So anyway, Im feeling sorry for myself and needed someone who understands to maybe know cos as good as my family and girlfriend are they just dont.

Re: Feel Like ****.

Are you on the list to get one eventually or what was the trial for ? I think eventually, the price will drop and they will become more widespread. The strips aren't actually a cheap option. Sorry to read you feel down, must be horrible getting a glimpse at how things could be, then gone !

Re: Feel Like ****.

No it was a trial to see what my bloods do overnight and between testing, not going to be given one full time unless I can fund it.

Yeah thats basically it 'how it could be then taken away'

Even worse is I hate letting my diabetes make me feel like this.

Re: Feel Like ****.

Were you able to see how your bg levels go overnight so that you could do something to alter the direction? What cgm did you have? Dexcom or Medtronic?

Re: Feel Like ****.

I had the abbot navigator which was ok.

and overnight no, it appears still to have a mind of its own as well as dawn phenominon which changes daily (no fixed rise).

It just made me feel safer going to sleep knowing it would wake me if I droped before I went hypo.

Must really suck Engineer :( Really think that test strips will be a thing of the past in the next 5 years and we will all be issued with CGM, that day can't come soon enough for us all !!!

Re: Feel Like ****.

yea ive tried and tried to get a CGM, I personally don't want a pump but feel a CGM would improve things massively, I too have been diabetic for around 22/23 years iam 32 now. Ive explained its not just about improving my HBA1c, I feel more safe secure etc when I know what my sugars levels are its just how many body and mind is. But that alone should warrant one. Ive said surely if the more people that have them then the price would come down. Same with everything these down to cost. But its like a tease they have the technology out there but its not available to everyone. So iam just putting the lottery on each week and when I hit it big il more than happy buy one.

Re: Feel Like ****.

Really do hope pumps and cgm's become available to all soon.

Keep pushing for it!

I did get a bit annoyed when they told me I was in where near criteria for a pump or cgm. I'm going to keep pestering the though! A cgm would be fantastic to have for exercise and at nights.

Yet if I was to not care so much and let my hba1c rise I would be

Re: Feel Like ****.

Thanks guys, feeling bit better now.

Kt78 WOW!!! that is uber cool.

Im greedy and want both im afraid. the problem is im too good. **touch wood** no parmedics needed for years and no hospital admitions means im 'safe' apparently. Hell its getting to the stage im willing to get a hospital admition if thats what they want.

Re: Feel Like ****.

The bionic pancreas will hopefully be lovely for us all to have and to hold but no doubt will cost literally thousands and thousands....................

Cgm will come down in price once more companies go against the main competitors and be cheaper and just as good if not better. Competition always drives prices down.

Re: Feel Like ****.

Sadly, it's not that easy to get a hospital admission either!

I'm trying CGM for a week next month - hope I don't get too attached!

No such thing as 'too good' - look after yourself
